It might mean they vomit or experience diarrhea more than other dogs.
It might mean they are gassing or feel bad because of a stomach ache.
It doesn’t help if your dog is like mine and has to taste the whole world around her!
I honestly think she’s eaten some of almost everything on the planet, to date.
I mean after all…
Some dogs are more susceptible to sensitive stomachs than other dogs are, but any breed can experience this problem.
I’ve known many Boxer parents who battled the sensitive stomach bug.
Luckily, a great deal of them have been able to curb the issue with a change in their diet.
But we’re not going to keep it a secret!
Best Dog Food for Boxers with Sensitive Stomachs
We’ve put together a short list of the best dog food for Boxers with sensitive stomachs.
I hope that you’ll find something here to help your own Boxer.
Let’s go ahead and dive right in!
1. Taste of the Wild High Prairie Canine Formula
I think the best thing about this dog food, as far as sensitive stomachs are concerned, is that it is grain free.
Taste of the Wild has long been known for their desire to cater to the primal instinct of the ancestral wolf.
This means that they go for a food that is meat-based and high in protein. This product definitely fits the bill!
The first 5 ingredients in this recipe are:
- Lamb meal
- Chicken meal
- Sweet potatoes
Don’t worry about seeing the word “meal”, as that doesn’t reduce the quality of the food. Actually, these meals are sometimes higher in protein than the meat itself and make a great addition to the formula.
Some Boxer owners noted that they had previously had their dogs on a diet of dry food made especially for sensitive stomachs. After that didn’t work, they switched to this Taste of the Wild formula and saw such an improvement that they never tried another specialized diet.
Why would they?
Another owner has a dog with various health issues including allergies and sensitive stomach and agrees that Taste of the Wild was the best dog food choice she could have made.
Her fur baby hasn’t thrown up, experienced diarrhea or had any other bowel issues or allergies of any kind since making the switch.
2. Merrick Grain Free Dry Dog Food
This is another popular dry dog food that also happens to be grain free.
The very first ingredient is real deboned duck, along with turkey and salmon meal, sweet potatoes, peas and duck fat.
And that’s just the roasted duck flavor!
You can also get Buffalo (no, not the chicken wing flavor!), Chicken, Lamb, Salmon, Texas Beef and Turkey.
Merrick wants to make sure the dogs that eat their food will have better gastrointestinal health along with an easier time of digestion.
This was what they came up with.
All their foods are cooked right here in the USA and never imports ingredients from China.
Some dog owners have said that certain flavors are better for their dog’s sensitive stomachs, with beef being the best for some.
You might want to try that flavor first for your Boxer and if that doesn’t work, move on to some of the other flavors.
Other Boxer owners claim that NO other dog food works for their dog’s sensitive stomachs except Merrick, so we think it’s definitely worth a try.
3. Diamond Naturals Dry Dog Food
While this is not a grain free dog food, it doesn’t contain any corn, wheat or soy at all and is enhanced with not only super foods, but probiotics as well.
With a great beef flavor, it contains omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E and selenium plus all the great nutrition your Boxer needs.
The first 5 ingredients of this Diamond Naturals formula are:
- Beef meal
- Cracked pearl barley
- Pea flour
- White rice
- Chicken fat
…along with a variety of other fruits, vegetables, vitamins and minerals.
Dog moms agree that this is an amazing dry dog food for Boxers with sensitive stomachs.
One particular owner told us about how she used to have to give her dog probiotics with every single meal. It was the only way to avoid the problems that accompanied his sensitive stomach.
However, after feeding Diamond Naturals for over a year, she hasn’t had to add an additional probiotics supplement.
Another dog owner whose dog has a sensitive stomach said that she had tried everything. She even attempted to make homemade dog food, but nothing seemed to help to relieve her dog’s sensitive stomach.
Until she tried Diamond Naturals.
After that, all the dog’s digestive issues faded, as did other allergies he had suffered from.
4. Blue Freedom Grain Free Adult Dry Dog Food
Another grain free formula, Blue contains their exclusive LifeSource Bits.
These bits contain a specific blend of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and garden veggies that rounds out the nutrition contained in this Freedom Grain Free formula.
You’ll also appreciate the fact that it’s made in the United States.
If your Boxer has had sensitive stomach issues for a while, even despite trying other foods, medications and more, you might be pleased to find that Blue Buffalo will offer relief other things can’t.
The Lamb flavor is especially gentle on sensitive stomachs and the small kibble size is easier to digest.
A Boxer with a sensitive stomach is no laughing matter.
Not only are they miserable, it makes us miserable to see them feeling badly and unable to eat a proper diet. So when we find a formula that really works, it is worth so very much.
To us AND them!
We hope that the information above helps you to find some relief for your own Boxer.
